A shoe store in the center of the Cultural Capital was transformed into a modern design space called Coordinate, where exhibitions, lectures, master classes and other events are held. The unique place was created on the basis of the St. Petersburg State University of Industrial Technologies.
The interiors of “Coordinate” are made in fresh white color, which makes the rooms spacious, airy and suitable for any exposition. As a legacy from the shoe store, the space inherited wooden panels with a slight note of vintage, on which there are fasteners for shelves. These elements fit perfectly into the overall concept and it was decided to keep them.
Lighting at the object was organized based on 2 main tasks: creation of a high-quality lighting environment for effective illumination of exhibits and harmonious merging with the minimalist design of the space. Linear luminaires based on Arlight LED equipment were ideally suited to the concept.
The chosen LED strip has a high color rendering index (CRI>90): colors in such a light flow look as natural as possible, which is important for most expositions. High luminous efficacy (more than 145 lm/W) provides sufficient illumination. Matte screen creates the effect of soft diffused glow, without sharp glare and shadows.
For the luminaires, an overlay profile was used, which is easy to install. It can be cut into sections of any length, which was important because of the complex geometry of the historic building's space.
Modern lighting control systems allow not only to control the on/off and brightness of different zones manually, using wall panels and remote controls, but also to customize a variety of lighting scenarios that can be triggered with a single click via a mobile app or even by voice. For this purpose, dimmers and controllers are used that support control via TUYA, DALI, KNX protocols. Such lighting systems are easily integrated into building management systems.
